Works once, for 10 minutes. Only shown to the device you're linking.

Your "key" is a private code, held only on your own devices, that proves a message is really from you. This replaces it everywhere at once - do that if a device was lost, or someone saw your recovery code.

Your chats and messages stay exactly as they are. People who've verified you will see your safety number change and can check it with you again - that's expected, not a warning sign. Your other devices pick up the new key on their own, even one that's switched off right now: it happens the next time you open it.

Look: Light

The same colours, just lighter - your own choice, kept with your account.

Notifications: Off

Wakes this device when a message arrives, even with WoO Chat closed. The notice only says "New message": no names, no text. The company that delivers it (Google, Apple or Mozilla) learns only that a notice was sent, and when.

Read receipts: On

Lets people you message see when you've actually read what they sent (the ✓✓ turning gold), the same way it works for you seeing theirs. Turning this off only stops your own read receipt going out - you'll still see whether people have read your messages.

Backup: Off

Keeps an encrypted copy of your chats on the server, so you can get them back on a new phone. Only your recovery code can open it: not the server, and not us.
